Class Meets:    Tu Th 11:00-12:15 1227 Engr. Hall.

Goals & Topics: In this course students will learn how to analyze
                models of systems.  Properties of these systems, such as
                linearity, time-invariance, causality, and stability, are
                studied.  In the case of linear, time-invariant systems,
                students will be able to understand how a system processes
                its input signal in order to generate the corresponding output
                signal.  To this end, the course will introduce the student
                to various tools from mathematical analysis such as convolution,
                Fourier series, Fourier transforms, and Laplace transforms.
                Applications to tomography (CT scans) and oversampling in
                CD players will also be covered.

                          A. V. Oppenheim and A. S. Willsky
                          with S. H. Nawab, Prentice-Hall, 1997.

Computer Usage: Some homework assignments may require MATLAB.

Grading Policy: Homework   15%,  No late homework accepted.
