Systems Seminar

Multiscale Analysis Methods for Signal Processing and Pattern Classification

Prof. Rob Nowak
UW ECE Department

Abstract

Multiscale analysis plays a prominent role in modern technology, especially since the adoption of wavelets in the JPEG 2000 compression standard. This talk discusses the broader role multiscale methods in statistical signal and image processing, and describes a recent application of "multiscale thinking" to machine learning.

Time and Place: Wed., Sept. 24, at 3:30 pm in 4610 Engr. Hall.
